We recently upgraded our data center’s network infrastructure. We replaced all routers and network switches and upgraded our main backbone connection to 10 Gbit/s via the CITIC Telecom CPC line.

To ensure maximum stability, all connections and critical network devices are now fully redundant. Your website, email, and servers will run faster and be better protected against unexpected traffic spikes.

We are rolling out the new Imunify Email protection platform on a server-by-server basis. The new solution detects over 97% of spam while keeping the false-positive rate exceptionally low.

What does this mean for you?

🔸 Incoming spam is now automatically routed to the Junk/Spam folder.
🔸 The system also protects outgoing mail – if a script or an infected mailbox starts sending spam, the messages will be blocked before leaving the server.
🔸 You can securely manage quarantined emails directly in cPanel.

We have launched a new proactive monitoring system that automatically tracks the health of your web hosting.

What does this mean for you?
If your website’s resource usage (such as CPU, memory, or the number of concurrent connections) increases significantly, we will automatically notify you via email.

Why is this a good thing?
It provides you with valuable information and allows you to react quickly. An unexpected spike in resource usage can indicate several things:
📈 Increased traffic: Your site has become more popular – excellent!
⚙️ Inefficient application: A plugin or a piece of code needs optimization.
🛡️ Cyberattack: Someone is trying to overload your site.

With this information, you can decide on the best next step – whether that is investigating your web application’s code, updating plugins, or simply upgrading to a larger, more powerful plan in our self-service portal.

As of July 1, 2025, the standard VAT rate in Estonia will increase from 22% to 24%. We are pleased to announce that despite this change, prices for Virtuaal.com’s virtual server plans will remain exactly the same for you!

This means we will absorb the cost of the VAT increase ourselves to continue providing high-quality service at the best possible price. Prices for other services and domains will be adjusted to reflect the new VAT rate.

To ensure optimal compatibility, security, and performance, we will implement the following important changes to our server software starting August 9, 2025:

► The default PHP version will be PHP 8.3 (previously 8.1). The latest PHP versions offer better performance and security for web applications.

► The default MariaDB (MySQL) version will be MariaDB 11.4 (previously 10.6). This provides a modern database engine, optimized query processing, and improved security. The transition to this newer version is generally seamless.

We recommend verifying your web applications’ compatibility with these new versions in advance.
