How can we assist you?

On 21 October, fixes were released for two critical PHP security vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). Even before the fixes were available, we applied temporary protection on all our web hosting servers, and our web application firewall blocked known attack attempts. By the morning of 22 October, the fixes were installed on all servers and for all PHP versions (5.x to 8.5).

The PHP version number stays the same, for example, 8.3.35, 8.4.26 or 8.5.11. The fix was added to the existing version, so no new version number (8.3.36, 8.4.27 or 8.5.12) will appear in the PHP selector. You don't need to do anything. If you manage your own VPS, update PHP as soon as possible.

Verisign, the operator of the .com registry, is raising the wholesale price of .com domains for all registrars. From 31 October 2026, a .com domain costs 14.90 € to register (now 13.90 €) and 15.90 € to renew (now 14.90 €) per year, prices excluding VAT.

If you renew before 31 October, the current price applies to the whole period you choose. In the client portal you can renew all your domains at once on one invoice, up to 10 years ahead.

The cPanel client interface is now available in Estonian: menus, e-mail settings, domain management, security settings and help text. If your cPanel opens in Estonian and you prefer English or Russian, you can switch it yourself in cPanel (Change Language).

The dashboard has a new ‘My Virtuaal’ block. It shows at a glance the things that tend to grow into problems unnoticed: SSL certificate name capacity, e-mail spoofing protection (DMARC) status, a PHP version nearing the end of support and the LiteSpeed cache.

We upgraded eID login in the client portal. Your eID is now tied to your user account, and a company account can also be accessed with an ID card, Mobile-ID or Smart-ID based on the right of representation in the Estonian Business Register. This way everyone entitled to manage the account can do so, and you can grant your accountant or web developer access without sharing your password.

Since 30 September, logging in with eID requires re-linking. If you haven't done it yet, log in with your e-mail address and password, open ‘eID and security’ in the account menu and link your eID again. Logging in with your e-mail address and password keeps working.

In May we promised new virus and spam protection by Midsummer. Since 24 June, Imunify Email has been running on all our servers: spam is moved to the Junk/Spam folder automatically and suspicious outgoing mail is stopped before it leaves the server.

We recently upgraded our data center’s network infrastructure. We replaced all routers and network switches and upgraded our main backbone connection to 10 Gbit/s via the CITIC Telecom CPC line.

We are rolling out the new Imunify Email protection platform on a server-by-server basis. The new solution detects over 97% of spam while keeping the false-positive rate exceptionally low.

We have launched a new proactive monitoring system that automatically tracks the health of your web hosting.

What does this mean for you?
If your website’s resource usage (such as CPU, memory, or the number of concurrent connections) increases significantly, we will automatically notify you via email.

Why is this a good thing?
It provides you with valuable information and allows you to react quickly. An unexpected spike in resource usage can indicate several things:
📈 Increased traffic: Your site has become more popular - excellent!
⚙️ Inefficient application: A plugin or a piece of code needs optimization.
🛡️ Cyberattack: Someone is trying to overload your site.

As of July 1, 2025, the standard VAT rate in Estonia will increase from 22% to 24%. We are pleased to announce that despite this change, prices for Virtuaal.com’s virtual server plans will remain exactly the same for you!

This means we will absorb the cost of the VAT increase ourselves to continue providing high-quality service at the best possible price. Prices for other services and domains will be adjusted to reflect the new VAT rate.

To ensure optimal compatibility, security, and performance, we will implement the following important changes to our server software starting August 9, 2025:

► The default PHP version will be PHP 8.3 (previously 8.1). The latest PHP versions offer better performance and security for web applications.

► The default MariaDB (MySQL) version will be MariaDB 11.4 (previously 10.6). This provides a modern database engine, optimized query processing, and improved security. The transition to this newer version is generally seamless.
